Taranis Winter Challenge Recap…

This past weekend a crew of us headed up to Victoria, B.C. to compete in The CrossFit Taranis Winter Challenge. Over the course of 3 days, each individual competed in a series of 6 WOD’s and accumulated a total of 9 scores. The workouts for the weekend were:

WOD #1:
In 7 Minutes:
1 Set Max Reps of Strict Handstand Push-Ups
Establish a 1RM Power Snatch
1 Set Max Reps of Strict Handstand Push-Ups

WOD #2:
5k Run

WOD #3:
2 Minute Max Rep Double-Unders

Followed immediately by,

21-15-9 Reps of:
Shoulder-to-Overhead - 115/75
Bar-Facing Burpees

WOD #4:
For Time and Load:
20 Rep Front Squat

Followed immediately by,

3 Rounds of:
20 Hand Release Push-Ups
10 Forward Rolls

WOD #5:
AMRAP 8 Minutes of:
3 Kettlebell Hoists - 2/1.5 Pood
6 Thrusters - 115/75

WOD #6:
5 Rounds of:
5 SDHP - 135/85
5 Clean & Jerk - 135/85
5 Snatch - 135/85

With 100 competitors in the Individual Competition, all four members of our group finished out in the Top 10, with Nick coming in 6th, Abby and Rome both placing 8th, and Roozen finishing in 10th. Local friend and Portlandian, Bryan Miller, also had a great showing at the competition and finished in 7th place.

It can’t go unnoticed that our commander and chief kept us all sane and in line throughout the entire weekend (while also rubbing in nonpaleo fair ;)) Huge thank you to Dunc! And big congrats to Nick, Rome, Abby- way to represent, and Pam and claudia for dealing with us all! I’d travel/compete with you all any day!
